Hey Fans!

Have we told you how much we love fall weddings? The changing of the leaves, the cool temperatures, and the coziness of home fill us with delight. And to top it all off, fall makes for one of the best backdrops in which to tell a warm and loving story. Here’s a glimpse at our latest one.

Some couples want their wedding film to feel like a romantic movie.

Fatima and Andrew wanted theirs to feel like an old memory.

The kind that brings you right back to a particular moment in your life. Where you can almost hear the laughter, remember the people who were there, and feel everything that made that day so important.

And maybe with a little inspiration from their favorite vintage horror movies thrown in for good measure.

When we first met Fatima and Andrew, we knew their wedding at The Homestead at Wilshire Ranch in Oak Glen, California, wasn't going to be your typical wedding story.

And that's exactly what made it so much fun to tell.

A Wedding Inspired by Old Movies, Fall Colors, and a Little Bit of Horror

When we asked Fatima and Andrew to describe the personality of their wedding, they didn't exactly give us the usual answers.

They talked about old horror movies. Alternative and punk music. The atmosphere of vintage cinema. Dark oranges, muted reds, grays, shadows, and a distinctly autumn feeling.

Fatima loves the old-school aesthetic of movies like The Thing. Andrew is a fan of classic horror, especially the atmosphere of films from the '70s and '80s.

They also wanted a celebration that was playful, relaxed, and filled with the people they love.

It was a combination we absolutely loved.

The rustic character of The Homestead at Wilshire Ranch in Oak Glen made a natural setting for their vision.

Rather than forcing everything into a bright, polished wedding aesthetic, we wanted their trailer to embrace a moodier, more textured visual language.

Something artistic without feeling overly produced.

Something romantic without losing their personality.

And most importantly, something that still felt like Fatima and Andrew.

Making Nostalgia Feel Personal

One of the first things Fatima mentioned when she reached out to us was how much she loved the nostalgic warmth of our wedding films.

But as we got to know her and Andrew, we realized nostalgia meant something much deeper to them than simply making a video look like it came from another decade.

Fatima grew up looking to her parents' relationship as an example of love.

She wanted her own wedding to carry some of that same feeling, while still being completely her own.

Andrew thought about their future children.

He wanted them to be able to watch their wedding video someday and see the expressions of their grandparents and great-grandparents. To understand who was there, how everyone celebrated, and how much love surrounded them.

That changed the meaning of the film.

It wasn't just about creating a vintage-inspired aesthetic.

It was about making something that could become part of their family's history.

So rather than relying on visual effects or a particular editing style to create that feeling, we wanted the storytelling itself to carry the nostalgia.

The real expressions. The natural movement. The imperfect little moments between the bigger ones.

The things that make old family movies so special aren't necessarily the images themselves.

It's the people inside them.

And that's what we wanted to preserve.
