Every love story has a meet-cute, and Samantha and Joel's is no exception.

It all started in 2012 during a random class at UNLV. Joel tried to get Samantha's attention by slowing sitting closer and closer to her with each class, randomly asking for a pen or posing a question to the teacher to try and compliment her. At first these interactions went past Samantha's head, but eventually she took notice of him and (to quote her) "his kind, perfect, baby blue eyes." It wasn't long before they merged their friend groups and started hanging out at basketball games, dinner nights at Hard Rock Cafe, and Game of Thrones marathons.

A few months later came the pivotal moment - the two had spent an enjoyable evening hanging out together till 1:00am. Samantha started walking toward her car, paused, turned back around, and confronted Joel with a life-changing question: "Would you have kissed me if I wasn't dating someone?" Joel replied immediately with a heartfelt yes, leading to Sammy pulling him in for their first official kiss.

Nine years later came the next milestone. Sammy and Joel returned home after a 9 1/2 hour road trip to Northern California to visit family. With careful planning, Joel took her for a sunrise view of Red Rock Canyon with ring in hand to ask the question - to which Sammy replied "I knew it!"

All of these elements have now led to a fun, quirky, and playful wedding at The Vintage Rose Weddings & Events in Tustin CA. Enjoy watching these two laugh with loved ones and embrace the nostalgia of their love story.

Analyse and Jared kept their wedding day simple.  No large bridal party, no stacked events at the reception, no overwrought decor.  For them, their day was about the intimacy of their love, and they did a beautiful job peppering their personality throughout the event in gentle ways, including a first look with their adorable puppies.  Thank you for letting us share in your lovely wedding!

This Wedding Feels Like the 1950s

This Wedding Feels Like the 1950s

Hey Friends!

If you could choose an era to design your wedding around, which one would it be?

That was the question we asked ourselves as we were preparing for our last styled wedding shoot, and we’re super excited to share the results!

Watch: Take Me Back to the 1950s / Anamorphic Styled Wedding Shoot

What comes to your mind when you think of the 1950s?

Classic Americana?

The birth of the widescreen theater experience?

The rise of car culture? Vintage nostalgia?

Mid-century modern architecture?

Guess what? That’s what came to our mind too.

Our latest styled shoot film is a tribute all of these beautiful facets of the 1950s, from the original dresses to our experimentation with anamorphic lenses. Even our color work was designed to emulate retro film styles, shifting between widescreen and super8 styled goodness.

If you’re looking for inspiration for your wedding day, then you need to watch this film today.

Thanks again to all of the fantastic support by our local Redlands vendors and to our friends at Sunset Hills Estate for letting us use their lovely property for the shoot. Check them out in our tags below!

A Wedding of Light & Darkness

A Wedding of Light & Darkness

Hey Fans!

Summertime has been brutal in California this year, with temperatures up in the 100ºs. 🔥☀️🥵 But on the bright side, our editing cave has excellent air conditioning, making it the perfect place to create new films. And here’s our latest!

WATCH: The Marriage of Beauty & The Ruiz / Wedding at The HOmestead in Oak Glen

Light & darkness.

That’s the theme of Courtney & Carlos’ story.

It all began when Carlos went on what was supposed to be an all-guys trip to Oktoberfest in Big Bear.  Little did he know that Courtney was also invited by a mutual friend to join.  At first the weekend was awkward - Carlos was annoyed by Courtney crashing the event, while Courtney felt uncomfortable.  But when she made a joke in only the way she could, Carlos changed his tune and made her feel welcome, even escorting her back to her hotel safely.

Two years went by before these two reconnected at a fight night, and they tentatively started exploring a new relationship together.   Within a few months, Carlos made the relationship official by giving Courtney a personalized “offer letter of employment” as his girlfriend.

Courtney was drawn to Carlos genuine, sometimes brutal honesty, as well as his disciplined drive to succeed at everything he does.  Carlos was hooked on Courtney’s dorky personality, her contagious laughter, and her warm way she accepted who he is.  Without realizing it, she helped him grow as a person and lifted him up from much of the darkness of his past, showing him the light of who he could become.

In the months leading up to their wedding day, we worked with Carlos and Courtney to establish the themes and flavors of their wedding film - touches of humor, gentleness, touches of humor and whimsy, and an undertone of seriousness to balance.  We believe this wedding film truly evokes these tones and more, visualizing the beautiful love story they started crafting many years ago at Oktoberfest.

Please enjoy this lovely wedding day at The Homestead at Wilshire Ranch in Oak Glen!

Experimenting With Color Grading

Have you see Asteroid City yet?

If not, and you love meticulous cinematography, witty dialogue, and off-kilter storytelling, we highly recommend you see it.

Watching movies is a great source of inspiration for new techniques, and Asteroid City is no exception. His use of color especially was fabulous, harkening back to a classic 50s look with bright colors, peachy skin tones, and teal skies.

While exploring Hollywood this week, we decided to experiment this week and see if we could create a similar style ourselves!

Is it perfect? Not in the least. But was it fun? Absolutely. And we learned new coloring techniques we’re excited to try in our future wedding films!

What do you think of the color? Leave a comment below!

Hey Friends!

The days are getting longer, the rain is (mostly) behind us, and the temperatures are rising, which can only mean one thing.... SPRING IS HERE!  And with spring comes the return to weddings in abundance.  Here's a sneak peek at one of our newest couples - with a taste of Cinderella.

Ellie and Adrian have all the ingredients for a beautiful life together - deep love, goofy playfulness, a supportive family, and deeply rooted values. We’re so happy we had the chance to capture their beautiful day, and we can’t wait share their full story soon. Enjoy this teaser of their wedding at Serendipity Gardens and at the Morongo Casino & Resort, and stay tuned for the main film to come soon.

God is the Writer of Our Story

God is the Writer of Our Story

The best love stories begin with burgers.

Kaitlynne & Adrian met for the first time as co-workers at In-N-Out store 22 in Fontana. They quickly bonded over their mutual love of the show "Friends," discussing which episodes they liked and how far into the season they were. After a few months and countless patties flipped, they began to open up to each other and build a sense of trust and ease.

One late rainy night after work, they decided to grab some food at Norms. What started as a simple conversation among friends veered quickly into their mutual struggles of the past and deep, lasting connection. Before they knew it, the hours had flown by all through to morning, leaving their parents frantically worried about where they were. In Adrian's words, "that morning, in that booth, with the rain pouring down, I fell in love with her."

Kaitlynne came to appreciate Adrian's humility and desire to keep learning from his mistakes, his tenderness in dealing with others, and his visual approach to communication. Adrian was drawn to Kaitlynne's heart, her eagerness to make people around her smile, and her attention to detail and order. Both came from families with lots of brothers, and as the grew closer together, their siblings bonded as well, treating each other like one big family.

Their relationship progressed until a fateful night at a monster truck rally with their closest family members. Afterwards, in the same Norms where they had their fateful conversation years before, Adrian proposed marriage to his best friend.

We're happy to celebrate their amazing adventure with a perfect wedding day at Serendipity Gardens in Oak Glen, CA. Watch as they share their special occasion with all of their loved ones, dancing the night away, watching their siblings cry in delight, and ending the celebration in the perfect way - over a Double Double at In-N-Out.

Let's Explore the Redwoods / Northern California Anamorphic Travel Film

Let's Explore the Redwoods / Northern California Anamorphic Travel Film

Hey Friends!

Today we're sharing something a little different than our usual wedding film goodness. We just got back from a fantastic road trip all over Northern California and thought you would enjoy following us on our journey. Come watch below!

This was our first time shooting on anamorphic lenses, which has always been a dream of ours.

Put simply, anamorphic creates a cinematic widescreen look with lots of oval bokeh, unique compression, and strong horizontal flaring.  It's the standard format for most blockbuster films and is synonymous with the "Hollywood look."

For years anamorphic was so expensive that only top-tier Hollywood productions could have access, and most filmmakers have had to “fake the look” with filters and crops.  It’s so exciting to finally see newer, more affordable versions becoming available to all different levels in the industry like us.

Thanks again to our friend Jacob letting us borrow his lens for our road trip to Northern California. Follow us as we go wine tasting in Napa Valley, explore Redwoods National Park near Crescent City, visit the Oregon/California border, hang out at Battery Point Lighthouse, and run around San Francisco.

This Wedding Had CO2 Cannons

This Wedding Had CO2 Cannons

Who would have guessed that a chance meeting on a carnival cruise line would have led JoAnn and James on a decade of adventure and an incredible wedding day? Everything about this wedding matched these two perfectly - the elegant Art Deco decor, the funky and unique venue, the relaxed pace of the day, and the unbelievable rager of a party in the night (including a perfectly timed confetti and CO2 cannon blast on the crowd). We can't wait to share with you more from the love story of these beautiful people. Enjoy watching this sneak peek of their incredible wedding at Venue 808 in San Diego!

You'll Need a Tissue When You Watch This Film

You'll Need a Tissue When You Watch This Film

Every time we send out a wedding film, we encourage our couples to set up their phone in advance and film themselves as they play it for the first time. There’s nothing better than watching your reactions afterwards and remembering the rollercoaster of emotions your story took you through. Enjoy part one of Richelle & Lucas’ reaction to their wedding film, and you can watch the full reaction film on our YouTube channel through our bio!

Our favorite thing to do is watch our couples as they take in their wedding film for the first time. It's the final result of months of planning their day, capturing the ingredients of the experience, and crafting it together into a perfect memory. To watch a husband and wife travel back in time and relive one of the most enjoyable, emotional, and impactful points in their life is incredibly rewarding. Enjoy watching Richelle & Lucas as they relive their incredible wedding day at Castle Green in Pasadena, CA.

Loving You is The Easiest Thing to Do / Serendipity Gardens Wedding

Five years ago Jessica and Drew took a chance on a Bumble date - all while debating career changes, moving to new cities, and handling health struggles within their families. That date and the relationship it sparked has led to many adventures including long-distance dating, living together during a pandemic, and an intimate wedding ceremony over Zoom with their closest friends. Now these two have celebrated their journey of life with an incredible day in Palm Springs at their AirBnB and at Serendipity Gardens in Oak Glen, CA. We wish every couple can have as relaxed and happy a relationship as these two do. To quote Jessica, "loving you has, and always will be, so easy."

A Chill Wedding at Rancho Las Lomas

Mackenzie and Aaron had such a down-to-earth approach to their wedding day. For them, traditions and events only matter if they allow you to have fun and create memories. Instead, their wedding day was all about being present and savoring every joyful moment - Aaron crying as he watched his bride walk down the aisle, their friends riding a scooter during their grand entrance, savoring a cold beer. It’s a powerful lesson we hope every couple takes as they plan their special day. Congrats to this fun-loving duo as they celebrate their wedding day at Rancho Los Lomas in Silverado, CA!
